Latine & Caribbean Heritage Celebration 2026
Latine & Caribbean Heritage Celebration 2026: Together We Are More | Unidos Somos Más
This Year's LCHC 2026 Goals Are:
- Educate the broader Dartmouth community about the histories, cultures, and contributions of Latine and Caribbean communities through engaging and accessible programming.
- Foster connection among Latine and Caribbean students and their peers while creating inclusive spaces that authentically reflect the diversity of our communities.
- Strengthen belonging by creating opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and cultural exchange across the Dartmouth community.
This Year's Theme: Together We Are More | Unidos Somos Más
This year’s Latine & Caribbean Heritage Celebration centers Together We Are More | Unidos Somos Más—a theme grounded in interdependence and hope.
A just and inclusive future can only be built when we work together. At a time when our communities face systemic challenges while continuing to create opportunities for growth and change, our stories, cultures, and shared resilience provide a foundation for moving forward.
Through this year’s celebration, we invite the broader Dartmouth community to speak, listen, and act in ways that honor our differences while building unity. Our future is not something we wait for; it is something we create together.
Throughout the fall, LCHC will bring students, faculty, staff, and community members together through opportunities to celebrate culture, build relationships, learn from one another, and reflect on the many ways our communities are connected.

El Norte
Friday, October 9 | 7 pm
Loew Auditorium
Gregory Nava's dramatic 1983 masterpiece weaves in elements of Aztec and Mayan mythology with a quest for the American dream.
After their family is killed in a union-busting government massacre, indigenous Mayan siblings Enrique and Rosa decide to flee Guatemala and embark on a perilous journey to America— "El Norte"—in search of a better life. Facing danger and persecution on every step of the way, their love and resolve eventually bring them to shimmery Los Angeles, which soon proves to be gilded rather than gold.
A tour de force of independent filmmaking, Pava expertly weaves Aztec and Mayan mythology with the modern American Dream, blending magical realism with poignant social commentary as he captures the realities of the modern immigrant experience.
